The Best Puzzle…. I really think so. This is my copy of the original Borgy Board that I purchased around 1988 from Games People Play near Harvard Square, Cambridge, MA. The manufacturer, Wayne Cox Woodworks appears to be out of business, and the only search result has been a brief listing at Indiana University HERE.

I’ve found three over the years on Ebay and gave one as a gift. I recently started making my version of the Borgy Board and named it The Best Puzzle. The disks are slightly thicker than the original, and have a nice tactile feel.

The rules are simple, and I can solve it once every 50 tries. The best part is that I can’t remember how I did it, so it has continuing play value.

The RULES:  You may move only one or two disk together on any one move. When one disk is moved it can only be placed on a disk or empty peg of the same color. When two disks are moved simultaneously, the bottom disk can be placed only on a disk or empty peg of the same color. No stack of disks can exceed seven in number. The object is to place all the disks of a color on a peg of the same color. This puzzle can be solved in as few as 26 moves.

This is a great desk fidgit item. Each session to win or lose takes 3 minutes or less. Looks good just sitting there.

There is some similarity to The Tower of Hanoi puzzle, but that usually has three posts and the disks are of different diameters.

The first two I’ve made took me about three hours each to make. I think I can get it down to two hours. I have to drill out the disk holes, and cut and drill the base. The painting is two coats and a clear coat finish. A better finish than you see here.

Email or call me if you want one.

Priority shipping is about $8. at the USPS. $37 including shipping is about right for all the work and my limited time. If I start getting orders, I’ll invest in a drillpress.
